Back at The Hat

Hello and welcome to the first post of my blog!

I have tormented many hours over what I want to convey in this blog and where I should begin. I have finally concluded that I should begin where I began: home. I have very recently left my home and family in Long Beach and moved to Fullerton.

Of course, this is a food blog, and there is no better way to find home than through the decadent comfort of a hot meal. In an attempt to ease my homesickness and to establish Fullerton as my new home, I have decided to center this blog around restaurants in the Fullerton and Brea area. Luckily for me, these areas are filled to the brim with hip, fresh, and tantalizing restaurants just waiting to be explored!

Since this is my first post, the restaurant I have chosen to share is one very near and dear to my heart: The Hat. The Hat is a small sandwich chain best known for their renowned pastrami sandwiches and monster chili cheese fries. Not only is it delicious, but it is also ideal for college students on a budget and those late night munchies as they are open until 1 a.m. seven days a week.

As a child, I would often frequent The Hat with my father for midnight snacks. I remember it was always a riveting experience getting to not only eat but to stay up past my bedtime. I was absolutely ecstatic when I found out that there is a location in Brea only a six-minute drive from my campus housing.

After far too many years to count, I was finally reunited with my lost love. Although, I must admit that I was initially worried that my favorite roast-beef sandwich would not be everything I once thought it was.

Fortunately, my worry was for not. As soon as I bit into the beautifully supple bread and felt the salty juices of the beef caress my tongue, I was instantly transported back to my childhood and the late night adventures with my dad. It was everything I remembered and more.

Additionally, the massive chili cheese fries are ideal for sharing and make it the perfect place to have a laidback talk with friends. ( Although you may be inclined to nap for the rest of the day after eating them.)

I hope you too will go to The Hat and make your own memories!
