If there is one thing that I love in this world, it’s going out to eat. I am so passionate about eating out in fact, I started a blog. However, dining out is an expensive hobby and often not practical in an age of ever-rising costs. Luckily, though, there are a number of simple ways to cut down costs when eating out.

1. Eat out early

Often when you go out to eat you will notice that many restaurants have two menus: a dinner menu and a lunch menu. Most of the time these two menus are identical with the only difference being that the lunch menu is half the cost of the dinner menu. Dinner dates are out, lunch dates are in!

2. Sharing is Caring

Massive portions sizes are an American staple and one of the many reasons I love calling this country home. This is also good news for those of us who like to eat out. Giant portions are easy to share and your dining expenses are significantly cut if you’re only paying for one entree. Moreover, it may also reduce the chances of overeating.

3. Research!

Many restaurants offer a plethora of online coupons and discounts. Websites like Groupon and OpenTable are the perfect starting place to getting deals on your dining experience. Furthermore, restaurants often provide discounts on certain days and for students, veterans, children and the elderly! A quick google search of restaurant discounts and specials is definitely worthwhile.
